Corso Family Wine Making Day: Part 3

In a welcome departure from yesterdays tripe discussion, today I’m going to talk about pies! I woke up Saturday morning to the aroma of 6 different pies baking in the oven! If you put a gun to my head, I don’t think I could name you 6 different pies. Alright, that was an exaggeration, but it did well to further my point. 6 pies is pretty impressive. There was pumpkin, apple, blueberry, chocolate cream, lemon meringue, and some kind of brownie tort pie.

Personally, I am very particular when it comes to pie, and I really only enjoy them during the colder months. Pumpkin pie is my personal favorite by quite a significant margin. A slice of pumpkin pie with a vanilla ice cream would be my last meal if/when I end up on death row. There’s just something about the combination of the two flavors that is unparallelled.

That pretty much wraps up the 3 part series on my family filled weekend. This is good, because I’m pretty backed up with topics and pictures that I have yet to post. Tonight, my burger journey will take me to Audubon Circle in Fenway, which is supposed to have a great burger. I guess we’ll have to see about that.

I’ll leave you with some pictures.

Here are 3 of my mother's pies fresh out of the oven. Pumpkin, blueberry, & apple, if I'm not mistaken.

Here's a closeup of the pumpkin pie, seconds before it met it's maker.

Here's my Aunti Ri illustrating our families apparent inability to cut a pie like civilized adults.

What blog would be complete without an arbitrary picture of the family dog?

I second your feelings about pumpkin pie, Jonny. The past few Thanksgivings, my mother has messed up and purchased [not even made] a squash pie instead of pumpkin.. she & my aunt swearing that it's squash I LOVE and not pumpkin. They're trying to brainwash me. But I won't fall for it.
